Let Kayak Tom help you plan your next paddling adventure in Cedar Key! Anyone can paddle. Kayak Cedar Keys’ versatile fleet has several single and tandem kayaks that are equipped with “jump” seats, suitable for the child not yet old enough to paddle on their own, no extra charge. Moms and Dads can be comfortable with their smallest children in a properly fitted safety vest and personal seat, as they paddle over to the Island of Atsena Otie. A favorite destination for all! Just a short 20 to 30 minute paddle and you can picnic on a white sugar sand beach while enjoying a host of birds that include herons, egrets, pelicans and watch some of the 350 bottlenose dolphin that call Cedar Key home as they play in the nearby waters.
You may also enjoy a leisurely paddle into our tidal estuaries. There are many easily navigated water trails through the mangroves where birds and wildlife abound. You may see redfish “tailing” and mullet jumping. Summer brings the return of the leatherback turtles and roseatte spoonbills. Conditioned paddlers may which to paddle out to Seahorse Key. You can view the historic Cedar Keys Light Station from the water. Regardless of where you paddle in the Cedar Keys, during the winter months you are likely to see eagle’s and osprey nesting, and flocks of white pelicans everywhere! Early Springs brings the return of horseshoe crab nesting while our dolphin are calving. Regardless of the season, our guests return with smiling faces and new adventures to share with us!
